MAY IS NATIONAL NURSES MONTH

And of all the appreciation months and days this is definitely one of our favorites. If the last few years have taught us anything it is how special, incredible and important our nurses are. We have tremendous gratitude for these tireless front-line workers and some of our favorite events of the past few years have been providing them with spa services. As the buzz and beauty of New York Fashion Week descends upon the city, we at Primp Events are gearing up another insane, fun, thrilling week. There is a lot of pressure, but this is honestly where we thrive. It all starts with our team of super-talented, super-experienced service providers. They have done and seen it all.

It is a week where you have to be particularly nimble and willing to adjust on the fly. Over our years of working together, we have developed a rhythm that really helps us to adapt to whatever fashion week throws at us. Whether it is last-minute manicures and make-up adjustments for the runway, a sudden change of mind on hairstyles, or a change of models who all of sudden need some precision eyebrow shaping it seems there is always something. And it is always something different. There are big shows and small, product demos and corporate events. All with a different vibe but the same demand, this is a week where you have to look flawless.

There is definitely a special energy around fashion week and we do enjoy it. It is just one of the many aspects of being centered in NYC that we love. We get to work with so many different interesting clients and businesses who are looking to create magical, memorable experiences for their customers, employees, or friends. As we at Primp Events bid farewell to 2023, our hearts are filled with gratitude for a year of growth in every way. We love how our mobile salon and spa services bring smiles to people’s faces, and this year we did it for an incredible range of amazing businesses, brands and people.

New York Fashion Week was bigger, better and more exciting than ever. It is always a thrill to see our work at the shows. And there is nothing that puts a smile on our faces like getting to meet and service the women of Project Greenhope. 

The whirlwind that was 2023 was made possible by our rock star team. They are wonderfully talented, truly dedicated and simply just lovely people. BIRKENSTOCK EVENT

If you have ever owned a pair of Birkenstock shoes, you know how amazing their shoes are. (And if you haven’t do yourself a favor!) They are an incredible company, too, so it is no surprise they recently had their IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. Our Team at PRIMP had the privilege of helping them celebrate this momentous occasion with a series of events around the city celebrating, what else? Foot well-being. 

They transformed two locations in the city, creating oases of holistic health. It was like stepping out of the city into a beautiful zen garden. A zen garden where you would find the most indulgent foot massages waiting for you courtesy of our awesome team. No surprise that people absolutely loved it! It was a really cool event and so great to collaborate with Birkenstock with our onsite spa services. It was one of the best examples of the special experiences we can create when a company brings us in early and we work closely together on all the details.

MAKING TENANTS SMILE: HOW COMPANY INCENTIVES TRANSFORM NYC BUILDINGS

Imagine this, you walk into your office or apartment building and instead of a pile of work or a pile of mail, there is a Chair Massage Therapist waiting to greet you. Or maybe it is a Manicurist, either way, they are waiting to give a complimentary service and make your day. Many tenants do not have to imagine it. More than ever landlords are embracing creative ways like these to make tenants feel special and appreciated, relaxed and beautiful.

The power of these on-premise spa events was on full display during a recent collaboration we had with a major New York City commercial landlord. We set up hand and chair massage stations and made them available to tenants throughout the day. They loved it! There was a huge turnout, a lot of happy faces, and a massive wave of positive feedback and sentiment for building management.

At a time when our city has faced its share of challenges that have tested the resiliency of New Yorkers, a little act of kindness on the part of landlords can go a very long way. A well-crafted experience goes beyond just putting a smile on tenants' faces it makes them feel appreciated. It transforms apartments and offices into places where people feel valued.

Something else that’s cool about these events, they are for everyone from young professionals to families, to retirees. OUR EXPERIENCE AT GREENHOPE SERVICES FOR WOMEN

Seeing the joy our services bring to people always makes me very happy, but it had never made me cry before, until last week. We had the pleasure of putting on an event for Greenhope Services for Women, a residential program for adult women seeking treatment for substance use disorder. One of the guests who was receiving a facial service started to cry. When asked if everything was okay, she shared that it was her first-ever facial experience, and it felt so incredibly nice that it brought tears of joy to her eyes. And you know what? It brought tears to my eyes too. It was a beautiful reminder of how small gestures can have such a big impact on someone's life.

For the event our team provided manicures, pedicures, facials, makeup application, and chair massages for Greenhope’s residents, and the services were much appreciated. These kinds of services were a first for many of the women that lived at Greenhope. To say they loved it would be a huge understatement. Those of us who have the good fortune of being able to get our hair or nails done on a more regular basis know how enjoyable these services are but also the boost they give to our overall feeling of well-being. It was truly special being able to share that feeling with people who have never had it before. And we hope to do it again soon.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

How often have you looked at all that a teacher does and said “That is the hardest job!” I know I have many times. Teachers are truly incredible. They possess such an amazing combination of dedication, patience, compassion, and caring. And of course, they play such a vital role in the growth and development of our children. It is one of those jobs like law enforcement, firemen, and nurses, where I feel like the people give a lot more than they get. So without a doubt, an appreciation week is the least we can do for our wonderful teachers. 

We have done several Teacher Appreciation events over the years and it is one of my favorite kinds of events we do. We will set up shop in a room and offer a variety of mobile services like manicures, hand massages, or chair massages. The teachers will come in when they can and get a service. It makes for a really relaxing, rejuvenating break in their often busy, stress-filled day. The best part of the day is how much the teachers appreciate being appreciated.

BRAND ACTIVATIONS

We recently partnered with Sally Hansen, a leading (and awesome!) nail care brand, to help them launch a new press on nail to the public. Our manicurists boarded a custom mobile spa truck and made stops around New York City introducing people to this new Sally Hansen product. It was a lot of fun! People loved getting on the bus, loved getting a complimentary service and really loved Sally Hansen’s new press on nail—which is quick to apply and looks fabulous on. There are over 20 new nail designs to select from and within minutes you can have a new set of nails. 

Product demonstrations are one of the events that make me most most proud. These are important moments for a brand and getting a new product out there in the right way is critical. It means a lot that a brand entrusts us to help them do it. And we really play an important role from providing the service, to creating a positive experience, to educating consumers on the product.  Our ability to do that is all because of our amazing team that is experienced and talented, and also really nice. So all in all, it was great event with Sally Hansen, and we were honored as always to be part of it.
