OUR EXPERIENCE AT GREENHOPE SERVICES FOR WOMEN

Seeing the joy our services bring to people always makes me very happy, but it had never made me cry before, until last week. We had the pleasure of putting on an event for Greenhope Services for Women, a residential program for adult women seeking treatment for substance use disorder. One of the guests who was receiving a facial service started to cry. When asked if everything was okay, she shared that it was her first-ever facial experience, and it felt so incredibly nice that it brought tears of joy to her eyes. And you know what? It brought tears to my eyes too. It was a beautiful reminder of how small gestures can have such a big impact on someone's life.

For the event our team provided manicures, pedicures, facials, makeup application, and chair massages for Greenhope’s residents, and the services were much appreciated. These kinds of services were a first for many of the women that lived at Greenhope. To say they loved it would be a huge understatement. Those of us who have the good fortune of being able to get our hair or nails done on a more regular basis know how enjoyable these services are but also the boost they give to our overall feeling of well-being. It was truly special being able to share that feeling with people who have never had it before. And we hope to do it again soon.

I usually get mani-pedi a day or two before the event to make sure my nails are pristine and chip-free. As for my heels, I go with a quick in-home foot mask, it helps to keep dryness and flakiness at bay.

• Get your Hair Ready for Styling ✔️

Sometimes it is hard to get the desired volume and texture for your hair on the day of the party so try washing your hair the night before your event. It saves so much time and creates a perfect base for hairstyling.

• Relax and get ready for fun ✔️

Enjoy this pre-party night. A bath or shower to rinse off before my event always makes me feel fresh. Pamper your skin with a good face mask or facial cream.

THANKSGIVING DINNER OUTFITS

If you can already smell the turkey, apple pie, and cranberry sauce, it is Party Season! The question of the month is what do I wear for Thanksgiving Dinner Party or should I just enjoy my dinner plate in bed?

Try taking advantage of the warm air and air dry your hair instead of blow drying it. You can also give your hair a break by rocking the natural beauty of it, whether straight or curly, throughout the summer.

2. For color:

You need extra TLC for color-treated hair! Chemical treatments and beaming sunshine can bring damage to your hair. It can lead to color fading and extreme dryness.

To make sure that you are protecting your hair color, try to avoid exposing it to the sunlight directly and condition it accordingly. Fashionably, you can wear a hat or a scarf that will give your outfit that extra bang.

Eyes: 

Longer days plus longer nights can definitely affect your glow. One way to conceal the darkness and bring the brightness right back to your face is applying white eyeliner in your waterline and inner corners. This can help bring the sunshine back to your eyes.

Lips:

Want a long-lasting tint on your lips? Apply foundation on your lips prior to applying lipstick. It will for sure hold the color down so you will not have to worry about stopping in your tracks just to reapply the color.

Nails:

Ouch! A nicked nail can be such a bother but thanks to this easy trick, you can fix it in just seconds. Simply dip your nail in a polish remover then quickly rub it over the chip toward the tip of your nail to smooth it out.

Dab some polish in the bare spot to fill it in and voila! You have saved a secondary trip to your manicurist.

Hair:

No time to blow dry your hair? No worries. You can jet out of the door and still have beautiful hair once air-dried.

Blot your hair with a towel, spritz some volumizing spray, and brush your hair thoroughly. In just 20 minutes you will have thick and volumized locks.

Skincare:

Last week, I was sitting across from my 82-year-old mother and found myself staring at her face. Something was slightly different. Her skin looked firmer, healthier-glowing a bit.
